Wow - I thought the risk of death was 100%- eventually, given we all die. So this news is truly astounding ... surelyworthy of being plastered to the front page of every news portal across theglobe.
I mean - 14% of people have a reduced riskof death ... what's the bell curve like? - how many will live on to be 2 or 3or 4 hundred years old? Are some of the outliers close to immortal even? :)

A 14% reduced risk of death? Not"early death" or particular health issue, but a reduced risk ofdying? Look, if there's a 14% chance that spicy food is going to make meimmortal, then I'm ALL IN!

降低14%的死亡风险?不是降低"早逝"或者某种健康问题的风险,而是降低死亡风险?如果吃辛辣食物可以赋予我14%永生的机会的话,那我肯定吃!

Chinese restaurants in the West have beenmostly from the Canton region, where, yes, they don't eat much chile. But oneof the most populous provinces in China is Sichuan, where they do eat a lot ofchilies. Just that there wasn't much emigration from there to the West.

Personally, I prefer Hatch green chiles,but also regularly use habanero and jalapeno chiles in cooking as they areavailable year-round.

There's no conclusion to draw. This is acorrelational study, as the body of the text makes clear. Correlation is notcausation.

It's *universally* known that everybodydies eventually, so if someone refers to a "risk of death" it'sfairly easy to impute that they're talking about death within a certain periodof time, rather than making a nonsensical statement about immortality. It's nota glaring error in logic or statistics, it's a glaring error in readingcomprehension.

每个人最终都会死,这是普遍的共识,所以如果某人谈到"死亡风险"的话,指的就是某个时间段内的死亡,而和长生不老没有关系。所以这在逻辑和统计学上并没有错,而是读者自己在阅读理解上发生了错误。

Capsaicin - which is real subject of theresearch was not studied enough but sporadically published not so systematicresearch results point with various degree to the same outcome that it doeshave some anti cancer treatment properties.

真正需要研究的是辣椒碱,但是并没有对这种物质进行系统性的研究,但是从这些零星的研究中可以看出某种程度上这种物质确实具有抗癌的治疗功能。
